It’s on to the full Senate after a Maryland state Senate committee approved a bill which would legalize same-sex marriages. The vote yesterday was 7-to-4. Senate President Mike Miller predicts the legislation will squeak through the full chamber. The House of Delegates must also pass the measure, but analysts say it’s more likely to be approved there than in the Senate. If all that happens and Governor Martin O’Malley signs the bill into law, Maryland would become the sixth state along with the District of Columbia to allow legal same-sex marriages.
