VIA BLACK VOICES:

A fictional account of the last hours of Martin Luther King’s life will be focus of a play headed to Broadway next theater season this fall.

The drama titled “The Mountaintop,” by Katori Hall, received a 2010 Olivier Award best new play nomination and examines Hall’s take on the night before King was assassinated at a Memphis hotel in 1968.

Producers of the Broadway debut are scheduled to be Jean Doumanian and Sonia Freidman but no other cast or production details have yet been announced.

The play had a three-week run in London last year.

The slain civil rights leader will be the subject of an upcoming major motion picture release produced by DreamWorks studios.
