Jill Scott Considers Open Relationships, Chilli Shuts Her Down

Jill Scott & Anthony Hamilton Are “So In Love” [NEW VIDEO]

Here’s what Jill wrote:

“What do u think about “open” relationships? Been considering. Many friends are making it work. Not sure if I’m that girl, but not sure if I’m not. Sometimes there’s an understanding that nobody else gets. I’m really not saying I’m into it. Just curious and considering. I think it’s cool 4 the guy but when it’s the girls turn..pralum. For some it’s a turn-on. I’m certain of what I want and deserve. Still so many marriages fail. Worth the questions. Worth the thought.”

Actor Brian White then shared Jill’s message with his fans, prompting them to share their thoughts as well: “Oh wow! Go on ‘head, Ms. Scott! Thoughts?”

That’s when Chilli, who we all know has very strong and specific opinions regarding relationships, wrote to Jill: “HELL NAW to open relationships!!!! I’m about to call u cuz u can’t b in nobody’s OPEN relationship!! talk about a horrible situation!!! so answer ur phone!!”

Now, we love Chilli, we do, but from the looks of her VH1 show, it doesn’t seem like she should be giving anybody relationship advice.

1.) Mariah Carey, “We Belong Together” Mariah ran around her in real wedding dress for this video (the same one she wore while marrying Tommy Mottola in 1993). Even though she played the role of runaway bride in the video, her dress and makeup were still tactful, and it was shocking but inspiring to see her run away in the middle of her ceremony to avoid missing out on her true love.

2.) Jill Scott & Anthony Hamilton, “So In Love” Though these two aren’t the ones getting married in the video, we do get to see an older couple renewing their vows at the 2:30 mark – how romantic! Plus, seeing Jill and Anthony meet at the ceremony and lightly flirt before dancing made it fun.

3.) Jagged Edge, “Let’s Get Married” Back in 2000, what was cuter than these four men singing about getting married once and for all?! They made the concept of marriage uplifting and made the after-party look “popping.com” as Tamar Braxton would say.

4.) Bow Wow & Chris Brown “Ain’t Thinkin’ ‘Bout You” Bow Wow surprised us all in this video. Dressed in a tuxedo, we see him trying to forget his runaway bride. But, Bow Wow, we know you aren’t ready to be married nor have you ever been engaged.

5.) UGK & Outkast, “International Players Anthem” This vid cuts pretty close to Beyonce’s. It starts with Andre 3000 telling his boys that he’s happy to get married and is confident in his decision, how sweet! He waits for his bride to meet him at the alter, and the reception party completes the rest of the country wedding fantasy.

6.) Musiq, “Don’t Change” This video told the slow and sweet story of an old couple renewing their vows. It may not be as glamorous as Bey’s,  but it’s a tear-jerker. The wedding scene could have been a little longer, though. Don’t you wish you could’ve seen the reception?

7.) Monica, “Love All Over Me” In this clip, Monica pines over an old love before tying the note with her new man. It was enticing to see the emotions she had to go thorough before choosing between Shannon Brown (her now real-life husband) and rapper Maino, who plays her ex. I wish we’d seen her wedding dress a little longer, it was chic and simple.

8.) Beyonce, “Best Thing I Never Had” Bey’s wedding had all her fans pining for their very own Prince Charming, one who will give them a “rock that can’t fit in her new purse.” Shoutout to Jay-Z!

How do you the other’s videos compare to Bey’s wedding?

First up is the anticipated Cee Lo Green. Cee Lo is know for dressing in outrageous outfits but come on! The wig is ridiculous and as if your over-sized body matched with your over-sized personality isn’t enough, you have to go and wear an over-sized outrageous outfit. It is evident some people appreciate this ball of fun, other wise he wouldn’t continue to have a career. I think it is clear where I stand. On to the next one..

Chris Brown used to be so good looking until he went blonde. As if that wasn’t enough, he performed last night in a suit- with big knees. Really? Are big knees the way to compensate for a smaller something else these days? I guess we’ll never know… Until a picture is leaked.

Every girl has a fantasy of being a princess. Treated like a princess that is. However Shirley Ceasar took it the next step and dressed up like one for her performance. Do us a favor Shirley, and keep the fantasies inside your head, like the rest of us.

Jill Scott, love you girl but you could have done better. This thirty-something year old was dressed in what looked like one of my old dance costumes from the 90′s and I was 5 so it was cute. I was waiting for Jill to break out in a tap dance routine.

Although it was easier, (and more fun,) to find worst dressed, there were a few well dressed people at the event.

In my opinion, the host with the most, Kevin Hart, looked fab! He is so cute and looked adorable in every outfit he wore. Definitely best dressed man of the night.

It was even harder for me to find one truly best dressed woman.  I love Estelle and she looked so classy and elegant when she arrived at the awards. I love her dress and her jewelry and bag to match. This is a winning look to me!

While we await each new Jill Scott musical creation with baited breath, we love and respect her acting projects as well. We were especially proud when Jill Scott won a Peabody Award for the outstanding HBO series, “The Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency.” It was unanimous. We were hungry for this positive content and were looking forward to more.

As of this writing, however, there have been no new contracts signed to bring the series back and Jill Scott needs our help. Specifically, she needs us to contact the brass at HBO and let them know that we want more of Jill Scott and “The Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency.” We know that write in campaigns have worked before.

Abiola:    Ms. Jill Scott, Philly’s finest, our poet, singer, actress and all around goddess. Thank you for your art and your work.  We are really excited about your new project, “The Light of the Sun.” This is your first Warner Brothers album. Tell us about it.

Jill Scott:    “The Light of the Sun” is my fourth studio album.  It is refreshing, warm, and revealing.  There is some jazz, some funk and definitely some old school hip-hop. Some poetry, some sexiness, some vulnerability, bravado.  It is a really a journey.  The entire record is a journey, a trip.

Abiola:    It is an amazing project.  I have heard a few of the tracks: “So Blessed,” “Hear my Call,” “So in Love,” and I know that you just shot a video for “Shame.”  You talk about the sexiness, the bravado, the jazz. Is that in “Shame,” the music video?

Jill Scott:    “Shame” was a song that happened by accident, like most of the record.  I love that.  We were in the studio, a couple of friends and I and we were looking, just free styling.  You know, still called to cipher.  So, we were having a cipher.  J.R. Hudson, the executive producer, along with me, for the record was playing some old school beats.  And, “The Magnificent” beat came on and I just sang and those are the words that I sang and the guys that I was hanging out with were singing background.

You know, they are not singers, so they all joined in and started singing and they were like yeah, that is fun and I thought, yeah it is.  I got a chance to get a little aggression off.  You know, make people want to do the Kid N Play play.

Abiola:    You are taking it back! So Jill, you mean to tell me that we can still find Jill Scott, Peabody Award Winner, in a Philly Cipher?

Jill Scott:    Absolutely. I love hip-hop and I love to hear MC’s think out loud.  That is what hip-hop really is for me.  It is storytellers telling their stories out loud.  I do not have to agree or disagree. All I have to do is listen to the story, and if they give me a visual picture then that is hip-hop to me.  That is a good MC.

Abiola:    Yes and you are an incredible storyteller and a wonderful painter.

Jill Scott:    I am taking the title MC and I am taking it.

Abiola:    MC Jill Scott.  I love it.  You are an MC in every sense.  If we take it all the way, back to when the MC was the mic controller.

Jill Scott:    That is what I am talking about.

Abiola:    Like Rakim said you drop the mic when you are finished and let it smoke.

Jill Scott:    That’s right.

Abiola:    Let’s talk now, Jill, about your project that you shot in Botswana for which you won the Peabody Award, “Number One Lady’s Detective Agency.”  What a refreshing work of art.  Is that coming back?  Is there more?

Jill Scott:    That is a hope.  It is the hope, we have been having people writing to HBO and let them know that they want to see the show again.  One of the few shows on television that did not have any real violence, sex or cursing.  It was just a family show in a great environment and what happened is that I was pregnant when I was shooting last season, first season, and I had to stop after, I think I was seven months pregnant when I came home.  I was showing too much.

Abiola:    Who should people address their letters to at HBO, Jill?  We are going to get an HBO writing campaign going to bring back “Number One Lady’s Detective Agency.”  Whom do they address it to?

Jill Scott:    Fantastic.  I have been sending letters to programming@HBO.com.

Abiola:    Programming at HBO.  Okay. Done! Well thank you so much for sharing with us and we will continue to bask in “The Light of the Sun.”  We will get that HBO writing campaign going for “The Number One Ladies Detective Agency.”
