(Washington, DC)  —  The condition of Washington Washington Football Team kick returner Brandon Banks, who was stabbed outside a DC nightclub early Saturday morning, may be more serious than previously reported.  The “Washington Post” quotes Banks’ agent James Gould as saying that doctors had to insert a tube into Banks’ chest.  Washington Football Team team spokesman Tony Wyllie quotes team head athletic trainer Larry Hess as saying it was needed to prevent Banks’ left lung from collapsing.  On Saturday, it was reported that Banks had suffered only a superficial wound and there were reports that he was being released from the hospital.  Gould now says the player will not leave the hospital until at least Wednesday.  When he does, he may face charges.  WRC-TV is reporting that surveillance camera evidence suggests that Banks and a friend may have instigated the fight that resulted in the knifing.  Banks’ friend was seriously injured and the suspect with the knife is charged with assault.
