Shedding the CD player is part of a larger trend in automotive infotainment. Content and computing power are migrating to smartphones. Robust smartphones can channel music, navigation and other applications to relatively simple and low-cost onboard infotainment systems in the center stack.

My Majic 102.3 is embracing local talent and so every Monday, Mymajicdc.com will prominently feature a local artist on the site.

One Monday out of the month, My Majic 102.3 will host a New Music Monday listening party that will feature an artist that has been featured online and has received the most votes.

If you would like to be featured on My Majic’s New Music Monday please send your song in an MP3 format, your photo, your bio, contact information and a link to your music artist page to Ksmith@radio-one.com with ‘New Music Monday’ in the subject line.

This week’s featured artist is Tre Thomas.

Artist Bio:

TRÉ THOMAS has launched a music movement that will further break down the walls separating gospel and secular music. He infuses his fresh R&B sensibilities with messages that reaffirm the fact that God cares, understands and loves us all unconditionally–with a love that the walls of the “church” cannot confine.

Building on the success of his grassroot efforts, Tré Thomas released his debut, full-length project, “A Natural Contrast,” Fall 2008, and is set to release his sophomore album early 2012.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Tré realized his passion for music at a very early age. Although he grew up in church, R&B has always been his musical frame of reference. It’s his desire to stay true to what he knows artistically without overshadowing the message in his music. Tré attended the prestigious Howard University, where he was a member of the Howard Gospel Choir, and has been afforded the opportunity to sing background for Gospel staples Maurette Brown-Clark, Ted & Sheri, DeWayne Woods, Tye Tribbett and J. Moss.

Tré counts among his greatest musical mentors the world-renowned Richard Smallwood, and was featured on his 2007 project,”Journey-Live in New York,” which debuted at no. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel chart. Tré has most recently been featured on the 30th Anniversary season of BET’s “Bobby Jones Gospel,” performed LIVE at DC’s historic Blues Alley, been awarded “Best Upcoming Male Artist” at the 2011 Love From the Sound Stage Awards and hosts his popular internet radio show “LoveLudes” on the award-winning Bonnerfide Radio. He exudes a minimalist style, and his honest, warm vocal tones pay a befitting homage to his myriad musical influences—Donny Hathaway, Luther Vandross, Brandy, Carl Thomas, Tweet and Donald Lawrence.

Through his movement, Tré conveys that it is okay to be current, relevant and different without compromising loving God and having an effective message to share with the WORLD.
