(Washington, DC) — Many Americans have changed their opinion over whether a global economy is a good or bad thing for the U.S. “The Washington Post” has polled people on the subject and found only a third of those surveyed now see the increasingly interconnected global economy as a good thing. In 2001, a similar poll found six-in-ten Americans had a favorable response to tighter economic ties with other nations. The 60-percent fell to 42-percent in 2003 and is now only 36-percent. The decline is especially strong among Republicans with those approving of a worldwide economy now only 27-percent.
