2014 NFL Draft

According to TMZ, the National Football League NEVER requested the Ray Rice video from inside the elevator of the blow to the head that knocked out his then-fiancee. This, despite the fact that police and Rice’s lawyer had a copy of the tape. This is very surprising considering that the NFL is likely the most powerful sports league in America, and perhaps the world.

What’s more disturbing is the NFL made it’s initial decision on Rice (a 2 game suspension) WITHOUT viewing the video from inside the elevator, and then once the video came out, changed it’s position based on public opinion. While it’s possibly true that no one in the league office saw the video before yesterday, it’s really hard to believe in light of the sweeping changes in the leagues domestic violence policy, announced just last week.

Should it come to light that the video was in fact viewed by league officials before yesterday, we may see a new Commissioner soon. Stay tuned.
