(Washington, DC)  —  An organization that offers around the clock help for victims of domestic violence in Washington will be able to keep its doors open despite the government shutdown.  “DCist” reports Survivors and Advocates For Empowerment, also known as DC SAFE, raised more than their goal of 19-thousand-dollars at a recent fundraiser.  DC SAFE provides shelter and legal help to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and depends almost completely on federal funding.
