(Washington, DC)  —  DC Mayor Vincent Gray says despite the federal government shut down, his city’s government will be open for business. Gray says government employees will be paid through the city’s contingency cash fund.  According to the “Washington Post,” city finance officials estimate that the reserve fund can support normal government operations through October, 13th.  DC’s human resources office told employees yesterday afternoon that city agencies will continue to operate on a regular schedule until further notice and workers will be paid on the normal timeline.
