(Washington, DC)  —  A new report by Triple-A Mid-Atlantic says DC traffic control officers are responsible for a large number of tickets being given out each year.  Since 2009, TCOs have handed out nearly 800-thousand tickets for offenses like blocking an intersection, using a hand-held cell phone while driving, and even jaywalking.  Triple-A says most people are shocked when they learn the officers have the authority to write anything more than a parking ticket.  By 2012, each TCO was writing over three-thousand tickets a year on average.  DC says there is no quota for the number of tickets each officer writes.
