(Silver Spring, MD)  —  Ten people are recovering from non-life-threatening injuries after a Silver Spring apartment building fire.  Seven apartment dwellers and three firefighters were taken to area hospitals following the two-alarm blaze in the 93-hundred block of Piney Branch Road.  Firefighters had to rescue some residents from the building.

Montgomery County Fire and EMS officials say more than 100 residents of the Forest Park Apartments have been displaced.  Fire officials say the blaze started when an electrical socket near a bed caught the mattress on fire.  Damage estimates are one-point-five-million dollars.  The Red Cross is assisting residents who were burned-out of their homes.
