Gossip blogs were abuzz after reports of American Idol executives were considering replacing Mariah Carey as a judge with Jennifer Lopez due to low ratings.
First reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the idea didn’t go through due to a possible retaliation through legal action. However, Carey and contestants of the show have denied the reports.
Fox as well as the show’s producer Nigel Lythgoe have formally denied the allegations as well. Critics are wondering what Lythgoe’s next move is considering the obvious tension between judges Carey and Nicki Minaj and the well noted low ratings of the show this season.
