India Arie’s new single “Cocoa Butter” has garnered a little more than just a curious ear.
The singer who hasn’t released any music in almost four years plans to release her fifth album SongVersation in late June. The singer however did not expect any backlash when she released the first single of the album.
The neo-soul artist was heavily criticized by media outlets for releasing artwork for the single that depicted a much lighter-toned Arie. The singer assures fans that she has not lightened her skin and attributes the misunderstanding to the flash and angle of the camera.
