Artist Bio:

Mike Ivory is an American R&B singer-songwriter and President of Code Red Corporation, known for his soulful voice, yet humble approach to the stage, Ivory cites singers: Donnie Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Daryl Coley, John Legend, and Gerald LeVert as his biggest influences and inspirations.

Michael has been singing since the age of 3 and not long after this he received his first solo opportunity at Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Cleveland, OH. This much appreciated opportunity sparked a journey that would musically prelude today’s current events.

To date, Ivory has shared the stage with several R&B and Gospel mega stars such as: Tyrese, Tanya Blount, Howard Hewitt, George Duke, Bebe Winans, Donnie Mcclurkin, BB King, Kirk Franklin, Karen Clark Sheard, Jeff Majors and gospel legend, Shirley Ceasar.

In 1996, Ivory entered a musical competition sponsored by the former mayor of Washington D.C. Marian Barry where he performed at the historical Lincoln Theater and took first place. Through this adventure he was asked to accompany the Takoma Academy School Choir to another historical monarch, The Kennedy Center where he would sing the lead to Agnus Dei. Ivory received a standing ovation.

After several years of singing at events and making appearances at candle light vigils for violence Ivory decided to take his talents to the United States Army in June 2003 where he served honorably for 3 years. During his stay he was elected to go to Iraq and represent The United States in one of the highest forms of honor and duty, Ivory went to war. While serving his country Ivory was recruited from the frontline of fire to the hearts of the troops by using his voice to soothe the injured. He was asked to sing at every memorial service for the fallen soldiers of Baghdad and Ramadi. “This was the greatest moment of my life outside of my children being born… to use what God gave me to heal, soothe or comfort is royal.”

Ivory has recorded and will release his debut album, Man of the House this summer. Here, he re-visits true love and inspires the household to build on this foundation. With songs such as “Come Fly Away” and “I Got You” he assures the ladies that he can be the backbone of the house. He has written and produced a song on the album entitled “Golden Days”, a song inspired while dating his now wife, Tanya Blount. Alongside all of his musical accolades, Ivory is also a father of four beautiful children, Michaela (6), Courtney (4), Tony (16) and his newest bundle of joy, Legend (6 months).

Through his music, Ivory sends a message that regardless of color, race or religion in life, love is needed to survive. “I long for the day when the man of the house is celebrated again. Until then I will continue to be the voice of love for our generation.”
