Congratulations to Emerald Stewart: Majic’s Phenomenal Woman for the Month of May 2012!

Emerald Stewart is a proud Howard University alum and a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church.  She currently works as an event coordinator at The Educational Trust (The Ed Trust). The goal of The Ed Trust is to close the gaps in opportunity and achievement that confine far too many young people (especially those from low-income families or who are black, Latino, or American Indian) to lives on the margins of the American mainstream.  The mission of Ed Trust applies to Emerald’s professional and personal life. Emerald is a volunteer at Higher Achievement, an after school program in DC that mentors elementary school children to strengthen their academic foundation and provide them positive direction through education. She goes above and beyond what the program ask of its mentors.

Along with Higher Achievement, Emerald is also associated with other outreach organizations such as Freshinc.org (a hip hop non-profit for women), ManUpNow (Making a New United People), and Fight For Children. Emerald devotes much of her personal time and resources to the betterment of our communities and youth. Along with being a full time employee and a passionate volunteer, Emerald is also a part time wedding planner/coordinator. She also does a daily blog on her website, http://www.yeswewed.com. Her website is a tribute to black love and marriage.

In conjunction with Emerald’s tireless efforts within the community, she is also a proud and devout Washington Washington Football Team Cheerleader! Being a cheerleader requires a big commitment of time on and off the field. Coming from a high school of arts in Houston, Texas, performing arts is yet another one of her passions. Emerald’s desire to help her community is innate. There are simply not enough words to express how extraordinary Emerald Stewart is. She truly is the definition of a strong passionate black woman and a phenomenal woman!
