It’s not a fabricated Photoshop image – it’s real.

Under the bold headline, “An Obama Campaign Photo That Looks Like a Young Republican Rally,” the Daily Beast posted a provocative picture of a room packed with white campaign staffers in the Chicago headquarters – and not one African-American was shown in the snapshot.

“Are we where we need to be? Not yet, but this picture is not representative of the campaign staff,” an Obama spokesman said in an interview with

BlackAmericaWeb.com. “We’re committed to diversity and it’s something we will continue to strive for.”

The Obama campaign has a number of African-American campaign staffers working behind the scenes, including Clo Ewing, a spokeswoman for the campaign; Broderick Johnson, a senior campaign advisor; Valeisha-Butterfield Jones, who leads the national youth campaign; Mike Blake, deputy director of Operative Vote; and Stephanie Jones, who is overseeing the African-American voter outreach efforts.
